Tour de Cycling - Monday

- The 2009 Critérium du Dauphiné Libéré (June 7-14) start list (provisional) is on the official website here (.pdf).  Official site homepage is here (French) or Google-translated to English.

- The Tour de France is just over one month away and following Lance Armstrong's 12th place finish in the Giro d'Italia many people are wondering how well the 7-time Tour champion might be able to do in July.  A reporter for Agence France-Presse (AFP) posed that very question to five pro team managers and directeurs sportif in Rome at the finish of the Giro.  All five believe Armstrong can finish in the top 10 at the Tour, with four of five believing he can finish in the top five.  Three of the five believe Armstrong can reach the podium, with two believing Armstrong can win it all.

Valerio Piva (Columbia-Highroad): "At his age and after being out for three years, I don't believe he can reach the podium.  Win?  No, in my opinion.  To win the Tour, you have to be with the best riders every day."

Lionel Marie (Garmin-Slipstream): "He can reach the podium.  Win?  If you're in the top three, why not?"

Vittorio Algeri (Milram): "He had a great Giro.  Even though I don't believe he can be the rider he was a few years ago, he can finish in the top 5 or 6 at the Tour.  Win?  I don't think so."

Laurent Biondi (AG2R): "At the Tour, he can reach top 5 if he continues to progress and given his experience.  Win?  That would seem a bit difficult.  But he could surprise us.  He can't be counted out for the podium."

Roberto Damiani (Silence-Lotto): "Armstrong will be very, very strong at the Tour.  His 12th place at a high quality Giro in May should translate to a podium spot at the Tour in July.  Win?  I'd say he is one of the contenders for overall victory."
