Race leader Davide Ballerini (Deceuninck-Quickstep) speaks to the media following Tour de La Provence Stage 1. Ballerni: "The final wasn’t easy. Démare took six meters, but I found the space to come back, as well as the speed I needed to pass him. To win so early, and in front of one of last year’s best sprinters, is good for the confidence and brings me a lot of joy."

World Champion Julian Alaphilippe (Deceuninck-Quickstep) at the 2021 Tour de La Provence: "We had a plan, and that was to try something after the first 100 kilometers of the stage, so I went with around 70 kilometers to go and got to spend a beautiful day at the front. The legs were good and together with the other two riders I shared the workload at the front. When the gap went over one minute, I still knew it was going to be difficult, but I still gave my best. At the end of the day, I am satisfied with my condition and the way it panned out for us."

- Kasper Asgreen (Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl) will not start due to a positive test for Covid-19.

- Geert Van Bondt (Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl sports director): "It’s for the first time in three years that the race starts with a time trial, and it should be something for Kasper, Ilan, and maybe Julian, they have a chance of getting a nice result there. The next two stages should have the sprinters and the puncheurs respectively in the spotlight, but the wind in the region could play an important role, so we’ll see how things will go there. The last day is the hardest one, and that’s where the general classification will be decided. It will be good to see where our riders are at this point in the season."

- Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl roster for the 2022 Tour de La Provence:

Julian Alaphilippe (FRA)
Kasper Asgreen (DEN)
Davide Ballerini (ITA)
Dries Devenyns (BEL)

Louis Vervaeke (BEL)

- Kasper Asgreen (Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl) will start his 2022 season at the Tour de La Provence: "I had an unforgettable and truly amazing 2021 with the team, but now’s the time to think of what’s to come over the next couple of months. There’s no secret that my aim is to have another strong outing in the cobbled Classics that I love so much. It goes without saying that I would like to win again there, because it gives you such an extraordinary feeling, but it remains to be seen if it will happen. What I can say for sure is that I will try, and at the same time, help the team get the maximum out of those races."

Ballerini after the stage: "When you see how this team works, you feel that you have to give your best and fight for the victory until the very last moment. Just look at their effort: they were incredible, the only team to work tirelessly at the front until the final kilometer and keep me up there. The sprint was hard, but I fought until the last ounce of energy and I’m glad I could repay these amazing guys. This win is for the team."

- CCC Team roster for the 2020 Tour de la Provence:

Will Barta (USA)
Jan Hirt (CZE)
Jonas Koch (GER)
Jakub Mareczko (ITA)
Fausto Masnada (ITA)
Michał Paluta (POL)
Attila Valter (HUN)
Sports Directors: Gabriele Missaglia (ITA), Steve Bauer (CAN)

- Gabriele Missaglia (CCC Team directeur sportif): "Tour de la Provence is a very hard race but I think, looking at the riders we are lining up with, we will have a variety of cards to play. The first stage is almost completely flat with just over 500 meters of climbing, nothing in comparison to the rest of the race and so, on this day we will work for Jakub Mareczko, who I think is in good shape. For the rest of the race, Fausto Masnada and Jan Hirt will be our protected riders, particularly for the two important summit finish stages. Of course, this will be the first race of the year for both riders so, it will also be a bit of a test for them to see what their shape is like after the winter."

- The 2020 Tour de la Provence is being held February 13-16.
