Esteban Chaves (Mitchelton-Scott) wins Stage 19. Said Chaves post-stage: "It’s unbelievable, I don’t have words for this. It’s a lot of work that we have put together, my family, my team, my friends, everyone knows how hard we worked. I never gave up and the climb of the day showed that, I attacked many, many times until I could drop everyone. It was just happiness, it was like I took a really heavy weight off my back and it’s the result from all the hard work in the last two or three years."

Richard Carapaz (Movistar Team) wins Stage 14. Said Carapaz after his victory: "I can't even believe it myself. It's a dream I've worked so hard for, an enormous effort for such a long time which is finally paying off now. Today's strategy was one we had designed thoroughly with the rest of the team; we knew both Mikel and I had good chances to do well, and San Carlo's slopes suited my characteristics really well. Having two cards to play, it's quite easier. I saw the place to attack with three kilometers from the end of the ascent, launched an acceleration with everything I had, and was able to keep that speed and open the 30" I held over the climb. It was enough to make our rivals suffer, continue to open those gaps into the last climb and, at the end, even having a shot at the Maglia Rosa. I just can't believe it, I'm so, so happy!"

Cesare Benedetti (Bora-Hansgrohe) wins Stage 12. Benedetti had this to say post-stage: "I usually work hard for my teammates and today I had the opportunity to go into the breakaway to try something. We decided before the stage, that if a large breakaway group got away, then I would try to make it in that group. On the climb, I was forced to fall back somewhat, but eventually I was able to make contact with them again. The three riders who got away and rode on the front hesitated a bit and then I took my chance and in the end I was able to cross the line first. It’s a fantastic day for me and I’m very happy. Over the last few days, I was happy for my teammates and their success, and now I can also celebrate the fact that I was also able to take my own win here at the Giro."

Arnaud Demare (Groupama-FDJ) wins Stage 10. Said Demare in his post-stage press conference: "I knew it would be a fast sprint with the last 20km very nervous. To avoid any crash, I asked my team-mates to keep me in the first ten or fifteen positions. They have been excellent. Ramon [Sinkeldam] has been very strong and Jacopo [Guarnieri] exceptional. A sprint like this, at full speed with no need to brake, was perfect for me."

Bora-Hansgrohe sprinter Pascal Ackermann suffered from road rash following a crash near the finish of Stage 10. Said Ackermann at the finish: "I recovered on the first rest day and had good legs again. We wanted to play a bit of poker on the stage, so that more pressure would be on the other sprinter teams. During the last 5 km, we came to the front. At the 1000m to go mark, everything went by so fast, so I don’t really know what happened, and I could not react in time."

Another pink jersey and bottle of champagne for race leader Valerio Conti (UAE Team Emirates) following Stage 10. Conti had this to say in his post-stage press conference: "In some stages of this Giro we rode very hard but it wasn’t the case today. I don’t like this kind of racing because it makes the finale more dangerous as many riders are still fresh and too many believe they can win. I don’t want to take unnecessary risks."

The challenger: He was the favorite and now entering the Giro's final week, 2014 Giro winner Nairo Quintana will need to attack, and drop, Tom Dumoulin in the mountains. If he can grab the pink jersey back from Dumoulin, he'll likely still need a couple of minutes lead heading into the final stage ITT if he is going to win the Giro.
