- Montpellier (cyclingfans.com) - After last week's Tour of the Mediterranean, racing in the south of France continues this weekend with the 2010 edition of the Tour du Haut-Var.  There will be live streaming video.  Thomas Voeckler (Bbox Bouygues Telecom) is back to defend his 2009 title.  This weekend also marks the start of the 2010 European campaign for the American BMC Racing Team.  BMC have brought Karsten Kroon, Steve Morabito, Mathias Frank, Florian Stalder, Thomas Frei, Mauro Santambrogio, Jeff Louder, and Brent Bookwalter.  Tour Med winner Alejandro Valverde of Caisse d'Epargne originally planned to race this weekend but has pulled out, citing exhaustion from the cold weather conditions here last week.  Christophe Moreau will lead the team this weekend.  Garmin-Transitions riders expected on the start line include Christian Meier, Tom Danielson, Thomas Peterson, Peter Stetina and Daniel Martin.  Team Sky is bringing Sylvain Calzati, Dario Cioni, Michael Barry, and Ben Swift, among others.  Other teams competing include AG2R, Francaise des Jeux, Euskaltel, Quick Step, Saxo Bank, Rabobank, Cofidis, Saur-Sojasun, Skil-Shimano, Landbouwkrediet, Bretagne Schuller, Roubaix Lille Metropole, Big Mat, and Endura Racing.  It's a peloton similar to what we saw at last week's Tour Med.  Weather forecast is much better though, particularly for Saturday.  -Pete Geyer
