Race leader Thomas Voeckler (Europcar) stayed with the contenders for the overall to the top of Plateau de Beille and thus has become a serious contender himself.  Voeckler prefers the Pyrenees to the upcoming Alps but with yellow on his back will fight to the end.  Note the cycling fan at right, surprised to see Voeckler among the leaders.
