- Eurosport live audio feeds now playing the Tour of California.  So you now have the option of muting the audio on the Tour Tracker and listening to David Harmon and Brian Smith instead, if you prefer.

- Tour of California LIVE now on cycling.tv too.  Live coverage on Versus is scheduled to begin in about 15 minutes, at 5pm U.S. Eastern.

- Thanks to everyone who sent in predictions for the Solvang TT.  We will select and notify the winner of the Dauphine Libere poster in the next day or two.

- Pasadena report by "The 3 Riders of the Apocalypse Featuring Christy Craig" here.  (RV parking, the Astana train, new friends, and wearing antlers.)

- Tour of California Tour Tracker now streaming the race live.  Text tickers are also live.

- Yesterday's sprint battle in Pasadena between Rinaldo Nocentini and Hayden Roulston required a rare angle to really capture the action at the line.  As far as I know, our own Laura Alber (who used to shoot Oakland Raiders NFL football) is the only credentialed photographer to have nailed the shot.  (photo above)  Fantastic shot, Laura!  -Pete

- More Tour of California video highlights to come.

- Today's Tour of California Stage 8 departs Rancho Bernardo at 12:00pm PST (3pm U.S. Eastern, 21:00 CET).  Live video streaming on the Tour Tracker should begin at that time.

- Today is the all-important 24km (15 miles) Individual Time Trial at SolvangEmail the Editor with your pick for the stage winner and you could win the above-pictured poster celebrating 60 years of the Criterium du Dauphine Libere stage race, a race won twice by Lance Armstrong.  Poster features, in addition to Armstrong, Eddy Merckx, Bernard Thevenet, Bernard Hinault, Miguel Indurain and others.  In the event of multiple winners, we will randomly pick one poster winner.  Only picks received before 1pm PST (4pm U.S. Eastern) today will be considered.  Poster will be mailed to a U.S. address only.

Notes:  (latest notes always appear at the top)

- Our photo team will be sending pics of the ToC riders in the mountains a bit later.  They are now on their way to the finish in Clovis.

- Batman's true identity is....(drumroll)....Mark Buschini.  More fan pics to come in the next day or two.

- Batman at the Tour of California:  If you were watching the race a couple of minutes ago, you may have seen Batman running with the peloton.  We've got his photo (above) and I believe we will soon have his true identity.  Obviously this would be huge news.

- Live coverage, current situation:  Live video playing on Tour Tracker and on cycling.tvLive tickers on CN and VN.  Links at right.  Also, the Versus TV broadcast has begun for those with access to it.

- "The 3 Riders..." (see below) have been reporting in from the road on their way to today's finish in Clovis.  I emailed them, "Behave yourselves!" and the response was "No chance of behaving!"  Look out, Tour of California.

- A 3-woman team, friends of cyclingfans.com, is arriving at the Tour of California today and will be there through the end of the race.  They've asked to be known as "The 3 Riders of the Apocalypse featuring Christy Craig."  (Apparently the finish line announcer at the Tour of California last year kept yelling the phrase "the riders of the Apocalypse" and it was annoying enough to stick with them!)  If you're going to any of the remaining TOC stages, you might bump into them; they'll be wearing cyclingfans.com hats and will be reporting in daily with a fan perspective.

- Photo team just reported in:  They are arriving in Oak Hurst.  Sunny, big crowds are out.  They will continue on looking for snow.

- Live video now playing on the Tour Tracker.

- We recommend you open our Twitter feed in a separate window now.  If ever we have a server outage, we will update on Twitter and direct you to a live coverage page on another server.

- Today's Tour of California Stage 4 is scheduled to depart Merced at 11:00am PST (2pm U.S. Eastern, 20:00 CET).  Tour Tracker live streaming video should get underway at around that time.  Better weather is expected.  Tour of California live webcast on cycling.tv is scheduled to begin at 12:30pm PST (3:30pm U.S. Eastern, 21:30 CET).  According to the Eurosport schedule, they are bumping their Tour of California live coverage to Eurosport 2, which virtually no one has.  (Eurosport 2 would be a good place for Versus to export Professional Bull Riding (PBR) to.)

Tour of California LIVE - Stage 3

2009 Tour of California, Stage 3, Patterson Pass Road:  As race leader Levi Leipheimer (far right) drinks from his water bottle, his Astana team controls the front of the peloton before the real chasing of the breakaway begins.

Notes:  (latest notes always appear at the top)

- VERSUS, "The home black hole of professional cycling."  (They aborted today's stage finish to switch to hockey.)  Race is streaming live on cycling.tv Live Player and the Tour Tracker (links under "Live video streaming" in gray area at right).

- Laura:  "Photo upload at halfway point of completion.  Will leave it running while shooting the breakaway and peloton as they pass."

- Laura: "The breakaway riders are about 5 minutes from our current location.  Go Go Go"

- Our photo team just called in:  They are uploading shots they took of both the breakaway and the peloton on Patterson Pass Road.  (They found the windmills.)  Media pass and smiles are doing wonders for getting through police barriers as they drive from location to location.  Will post a pic shortly.  Carlos said that the 4 breakaway riders (Mollema (Rabobank), Vandborg (Liquigas), Louder (BMC Racing Team) and White (OUCH)) oddly didn't appear to be going all out.  Carlos added that Laura now wants to shoot the Giro d'Italia!

- LIVE coverage, current situation:  Live video streaming on Tour Tracker and on cycling.tvLive audio feeds playing on EurosportVersus TV is also showing the race live in the U.S.

- Have gotten way behind in posting photo galleries, but they're coming.  (Picked a heck of a week to get sick; 8 trans-Atlantic flights in just over 12 months will do that to you.  And unfortunately I don't have an IT department!)  Our photo team Laura and Carlos reported in an hour or so ago saying they were looking for windmill/peloton shots.  If they get something and are able to get a wireless modem connection, I'll post a pic before the stage finish.  -Pete

- More Tour of California video clips and highlights coming up shortly.

- Today's Tour of California Stage 3 departs San José at 12pm PST (3pm U.S. Eastern or 21:00 CET).  The Tour Tracker live coverage should begin at around that time.  Tour of California live webcast on cycling.tv is scheduled to begin at 4:30pm U.S. Eastern (22:30 CET).  Live coverage on Eurosport will happen if the coin turns up heads and time permitting pending the completion of the grasshopper world's tiddly winks competition, otherwise there will be no live coverage.
